The current house is Georgian and dates to around 1764. Henry North, of Laxfield, Esq. descended from the noble family of his name, purchased it in the reign of Charles I. In 1708, Edward North, Esq. dying without issue, left it to Thomas Carthew, Esq. his wife's relation, who in 1721, built a house here, and made it his residence.
